So Excited!!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone! Hope your weekend is going well!! I worked Saturday morning (need some extra cash, well, always, but I'm saving up for a new desk for my studio) and then visited my parents in Norwell!! We ran errands, had dinner and then I came home to HAPPY MAIL!! My first EVER card is published in Paper Creations Winter 2014. This is also my first pub in this magazine!

My card is in the Valentine's section of this issue. Here's my card ...

My "Love You" card was created with the "Cherish" collection by the amazing Christine Adolph for Splash of Color. I added some rub-ons from my stash to accent the card and wrapped some gorgeous Platnium Shimmer Twine from the Twinery around the card. A few splatters of gesso added a mixed media feel.

Great way to end a long, three day weekend!!

I'm enjoying my last day of a three day weekend having just returned from grocery shopping, putting ALL healthy food away (the shopping cart didn't even look like mine) and I'm so glad to have made some healthier food changes. I have lost - not sure how much, but I'm almost down a full size. I'm not doing the scale this time, I'm going by how my clothes fit. I can't wait to get out and walk - also not doing the gym right now, only due to finances.

I'm trying to get back into art journaling - I was stuck for a while trying things that weren't working, getting frustrated and not going back until recently. Then today I picked up my Saturday mail and found that a copy of Scrapbooking and Beyond Spring 2013 was in the mailbox. I have TWO projects in there including a layout and my first ever published canvas. My layout is springy and kinda busy ...

Here's is the 12 x 12 canvas - this was done for Splash of Color using a GORGEOUS collection called Beautiful you by Christine Adolph ...

So that was a nice ending to a snowy, windy and downright freezing weekend! Have a great week everyone and I'll be back soon with more projects.

Hangin' on to Summer

I wanted to share a card that I created a few months ago - I know ... a card ... by me !??!!? Cards are NOT my forte by any means but every now and then I attempt them! Since the summer is so short-lived here in New England I have been creating lots of summer themed projects, so I thought - why not a card! I used a collection from Creative Imaginations called Beach Cottage by IOD. This collection is perfect for any beachy or summery project. I also added some May Arts Ribbon and Epoxy Stickers and a cute paintable resin shell here's the end result ....

I added some Twinkling H20's to the star to give it some shimmer ... and of course, some distressing was involved ...

Gotta LOVE Velvet!

Petaloo has released some GORGEOUS new velvet flowers - poinsettias, mini blossoms and hydrangeas. I used some of the new flowers on this 5 x 7 mixed media canvas and card I created. Check out the Petaloo Website for all the new products - you won't be disappointed!! TFL!!

 

 

Back to Reality ...

Returning to reality after vacation is never easy - especially after having such a fun time at CHA Chicago. I did miss my family and friends and my furry family but I did not miss work and the daily routine. I have to admit I haven't created ANYTHING since I've been back but that's about to change .... projects are now presenting themselves and it's time to be crafty again! Hopefully a break will spark some new ideas and projects. 

I wanted to share the projects I did for Creative Imaginations over the next few posts starting with a NEW collection from Samantha Walker called "A to Z" - perfect for school photos and memories!! Kate, my Niece's daughter is the subject of this layout using the "A to Z" collection. I also created a card for that special teacher.
